How do we determine the positive and negative rotation direction on a rotary table?

The axis direction is setup based on the type of rotary table and machine we are installing the rotary table on. On a 4^th axis rotary table on a VMC and a 5^th and 6^th axis rotary table on a HMC we set the table up to move in the CW faceplate direction for a positive (+) move and CCW faceplate direction for a negative (–) move. On a 4^th and 5^th axis rotary table on a VMC we set the rotary 4^th axis up for positive (+) move in the CW faceplate direction for CCW faceplate direction for a negative (–) move. For the tilt 5^th axis, tilting up toward vertical 90-degree direction is a positive (+) move and tilting down toward the flat 0-degree direction for a negative (–) move.
